Making an industrial floor

We use the expression concrete works for all works where we work with concrete which can be the execution of shaft or the making of industrial floor.

Working with concrete looks easy but without expertise and practice there are a lot of rooms for mistakes.

 

Where can you most often make a mistake during concrete works?

  1. If you don’t use pre-mixed concrete then the wrong mix ratio can be a problem. Because of this after a while the concrete crumbles, breaks and cracks.
  2. The concrete is moulded badly. It has its place (for example it goes into shutters) but because it is moulded badly the bigger gravels would get into one place because of which the concrete won’t be stable.
  3. The compression is done badly or lasts too long. The bad compression means that we push the gravels down so much that no gravels stay on the top of the concrete thus stability won’t be right. It is the same situation more or less when it is compressed for too long.
  4. The consequence of wrong moulding and compression is that the material stays airy which obviously has a bad effect on stability.
  5. Surface unevennesses. The surface of the concrete has to be smoothed that on the one hand it becomes straight and on the other hand it has the right gradient. The straightness doesn’t cause a problem in most cases but forming the gradient can cause problems.

Making of industrial floor

A lot of people mix up industrial floor with synthetic resin floor coating. The industrial floor means more both in technical content and execution than resin floor cover. The planning and making of industrial floors is complex and requires expertise and careful attention.

 

How industrial floor is made?

First we make the right quality and thickness of consolidated layer of gravel and we put in the special foil which also functions as a watertight layer.

As a second step adapting to the needs of the planned building we cast the fiber reinforced concrete that meets the special demands. This concrete is then first gets vibrated with a needle vibrator and then with the help of the vibration bar we even the concrete and make a horizontal or a sloping surface.

Then we continue with the smoothing, polishing and dust with a crust reinforcing material. The rigidity and elasticity of the concrete is given by the fiber reinforcement. The steel or plastic fiber dosage stirred into the concrete before working it in gives a bigger rigidity and a crackfree concrete foundation when planned the right way.

The smoothing process has several steps during which the crust reinforcement is applied and in the next layer will be the vapor barrier which creates a thin film layer on the surface and prevents the quality deterioration of the concrete.

After drying which is the next day we can cut the dilation in and we can stuff it if necessary. With this our industrial floor is finished.

During the process we can add different additives to the concrete thus we can even produce colour industrial floor. Since the floor surfaces of industrial buildings are exposed to static and dynamic load as well we have to define the total load already during the planning period. It means that it does matter whether the floor will be exposed to continuous vehicle traffic or mostly you can expect pedestrian traffic.

If the building is planned at an area where there is a concrete or asphalt area originally can we make the industrial floor which suits the needs of the planned building?

The answer is: YES. With the right technology we can build the planned building even on these surfaces. But in these situations you must be extremely careful about checking or possibly repairing the already existing surface for example just mentioning the most visible thing, handling the existing cracks must be closely watched.
